Crumbed Calamari


  • (Serves 4)
  • Gina canola oil, for deep frying
  • 750g small cleaned calamari tubes
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tbs cold water
  • 4 cups white breadcrumbs


1. Place flour, salt and pepper into a bowl. Beat water and eggs in another bowl. Place breadcrumbs in a third bowl.

2. Cut calamari into 1cm rings. Coat calamari rings in the flour mixture, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs. Place coated calamari rings on a lined baking paper.

3. Pour canola oil into a deep saucepan until it is 1/3 full. Heat over medium heat. Cook calamari in batches for 2 minutes, or until lightly golden.

4. Can be served with chips, salad and lemon
